GETTING UNDER YOUR SKIN

The chemical structure of essential oils is very complex but I will be brief and to the point.

Most oils contain an average of 150 chemical constituents, Rose contains a whopping 300, it is these constituents that work individually and synergistically to have positive effects on our mind, body and soul.

The molecules in essential oils are so tiny that they weigh less than 5oo in molecular weight.

Much like fingerprints each aromatic molecule is unique.

Our skin is the largest organ of the human body and yes it breathes! This large area, with overlapping skin cells, provides a perfect platform for essential oils to slip through and enter our bloodstream.

Absorbing oils through the skin enables them to go directly to the spot where you need them to work their healing magic. Rub an oil over a tight or sore muscle and the oil will penetrate right into the underlying area relieving pain, preventing bruises or easing cramps.

The remnants of any oils are processed by the kidneys and liver and passed out of your system after 12 hours.

ESSENTIAL OILS ARE BRAINY TOO

Essential oils are multi-dimensional, filled with regulating intelligence to restore the body to a state of healthy balance. When body conditions change, oils adapt, raising or lowering blood pressure as needed, stimulating or repressing enzyme activity as needed, energizing or relaxing as needed.

Oil molecules send information to cells and cleanse receptor sites so that they bring your body back to natural function.

The most absorbable oils such as Lavender and Clove will appear in the bloodstream 20 minutes after application.

You can even smell oils like Anise, Lemon and Bergamot on the breath after 40-60 minutes!

Try this experiment – Cut a clove of garlic in half and rub the cut part on the sole of your foot and put on socks. Wait about 20 minutes and you will be able to taste the garlic and not only this but the garlics powerful antiseptic action will go to work throughout your body!

FINALLY - Any aromatherapy skin care product (lotions, creams, oils etc.) that contains essential oils slows the absorption of oils into your skin.

What happens is the large molecules in lotions and vegetable oils are too big to slide through the skin so they sit on the surface and hold on to some of the essential oils while they’re at it. This is good news for skin care because it gives the essential oils a chance to work their magic on your skins upper layers.
