PEGS IN YOUR FACE CREAM

MELANIE JANE'S SIXTY SECOND TIP

PEG's... NO not those pegs but Polyethylene Glycols are deemed safe in cosmetics mostly because the molecules cannot penetrate the skin BUT and this is a BIG BUT...

If like me you use a face moisturiser in combination with a facial oil that contains essential oils there is a chance the PEG's will PIGGY BACK onto the essential oil molecules and enter your bloodstream, and that's not good.

Always look at the ingredients in your face cream and if they contain PEG's like one of my favourite 'Olay' creams does, avoid it, if you use it in combination with a facial oil.

PEG's should also not be applied to damaged or broken skin as they can then penetrate and get into your bloodstream.

You will see a different number next to the word PEG such as PEG10 etc. this simply refers to the molecular weight and they are used as softeners or moisturisers in cosmetic products.
